Site of the WCRI's Michigan Division, Chemical Synthesis Laboratory,
on the Wayne State University campus
There are two major
approaches to the development of new anti-cancer pharmaceuticals: direct
chemical synthesis and extraction from naturally occurring materials,
such as plants. The Walker Cancer Research Institute, Inc. maintains
laboratories for both purposes. Our major chemical synthesis laboratory
is situated in Detroit Michigan and is under the direction of Dr.
Eduardo Palomino. This laboratory, which is housed on the campus of
Wayne State University, is both independently funded and operated by
Walker Cancer Research Institute, Inc., and has no affiliation with the
University.
